WE STRIVE TO HELP MUSEUMS CREATE CONTENT
THAT IS ENGAGING, DEFENSIBLE & HIGHLY USABLE.
At Doctrina, we support entities like museums, libraries, and non-profit organizations in reaching K-12 classrooms. By creating a K-12 content strategy, adapting existing instructional materials or developing them from scratch, we magnify your mission and scale, ultimately resulting in the creation of resources that delight teachers and are “sticky” for students. To do this, we work with education teams to develop and execute a strategy that focuses on three key areas: defensibility, usability and engagement.
We work with...
Creating instructional materials presents a big opportunity to scale your mission by reaching students who will never be able to visit your brick-and-mortar space in person. Some organizations have invested years into developing instructional materials for educators and host websites with vast repositories of PDFs, videos, infographics, and articles. Others are just getting started.
But whether you have instructional materials years in the making or not, you face a key problem: “How do you actually get teachers to use the content with their students?” Too often, we see significant and thoughtful investments in K-12 instructional materials fall flat and collect “dust” on the internet. The truth is that delightful, high-impact instructional materials are hard to make.
That’s where we come in. With every new partner we work with, we think about the following three elements, so we can support the creation of remarkable learning experiences for both teachers and students:
How might we “unlock” the unique value of the content in your collections, archives, and exhibits so that more students have the opportunity to benefit from it?
How might we lower the barrier to entry so that more educators can create meaningful and “sticky” learning experiences centered around your content and collections?
How might we support you in establishing and sustaining positive relationships with K-12 educators that benefit and delight all?
WONDERING WHO WE ARE?
We are readers. We are writers. We are problem solvers.
In our bones, though, we at Doctrina Education Consulting are teachers. We have lived and breathed instructional materials development for the last ten years, and we see our core mission as serving teachers and their needs. We believe that instructional materials are a lever for change and one of the most important keys to unlocking student potential.
We serve organizations whose missions include a commitment to positively impacting K-12 education: museums, federal agencies, non-profits, and library systems for example. Each of our partners has unique needs and unique opportunities to impact K-12 students. We work with you to maximize that impact, ultimately stretching and deepening your organization’s mission. Our core services include:
Working from current collections, upcoming exhibits, or existing instructional materials, we analyze the best opportunities for reaching a K-12 audience.
We advise on organizational content strategy and approach to generate defensible K-12 instructional materials.
We support education teams in deepening their understanding of K-12 classrooms, curricula, learning standards, and instructional materials, empowering them to design and execute their instructional materials strategy.
We develop high-impact instructional materials alongside our partners, working within the strategy that best suits their needs - whether that entails supporting certain aspects of the process such as initial prototyping and materials design, development of indicators of quality and templates, or full project management of a large-scale materials development initiative.
LET'S WORK TOGETHER
Do not be satisfied with an impact limited by in person experiences. Stop fretting about whether your materials are actually getting any use in the classroom. Live your mission and deepen your impact by reaching more children. Let’s get started.
